At the beginning of every school year, it's all about names, names, names! Children love to learn about a word that is most special to them- their name. We start off the year by having children sign into their classrooms, create name art, and even use technology to write their names. This work continues throughout the year as children build the foundation to learning to read here at the YMCA of Metro Atlanta!

Congrats to our own Antonia Thomas on being selected as the recipient of the Georgia's Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) Scholarship, which supports ECE professionals all over Georgia in gaining more education and skills. nnAntonia, a lead teacher in the two- and three-year-old class at the Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA Early Learning Center (a quality rated two-star program) recently completed her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education.
