In any normal world, someone this harmful to our children would step down.nnBoardmember Scamihorn won’t resign. He doesn’t think he’s done anything wrong, and his recent re-election only emboldens his lies and his hatred. If you think our students deserve a higher bar for leadership, help us elect new leaders.nnhttps://cobbcountycourier.com/2021/09/cobb-school-board-chairman-under-fire-for-covid-response/

Obviously Banks is vaccinated. But people like him and David Chastain know that the only way they keep power is to keep you afraid. Choose our kids over fear. 😷💉❤️ https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/cobb-county/cobb-county-parents-upset-school-board-member-sharing-false-vaccine-information/IC25EDXLSVF6RPZNBLYPFRA2VU/
Earlier today, Cobb County School District shared its updated weekly covid advisory showing 822 cases since July 1st, with only 2 wks of in-person classes. nnOur students are in class where masks are optional, there's no spacing at lunch, and very limited quarantine protocols. This approach feels wholly inadequate and, after two weeks, the numbers are showing it's not sustainable.nnToday, Representative Teri Anulewicz, Georgia House District 42 penned a letter to Superintendent Ragsdale, imploring him to prioritize student and staff safety. You can read it here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Gdq2c4Qtp2DctF3OYjAyp-FuE5YSUn-7rygSNMkiGdQ/mobilebasicnn🚨 As parents' requests to the district office have been met with insufficient communication and silence from the superintendent, please reach out to your locally elected officials to request that they help amplify your concerns. Cobb has excellent leadership and now is the time to call on them to help represent the unheard voices of our community, especially in areas where our School Board members have been silenced through amended Board rules. nnTo find your local representatives, go to www.mvp.sos.ga.gov and enter your information. Reach out to us if you have any trouble. nnThank you for your leadership, Rep. Anulewicz!

We are thrilled to welcome Austin Heller as the newest candidate for your Cobb School Board! While Boardmember David Chastain has spent his time in office ignoring parents’ requests for school infrastructure updates, Austin has spent his time listening to recent graduates of Cobb schools. Austin is a resident advisor at KSU and has built a community of students who know the opportunities for improvement in Cobb schools firsthand. Austin is majoring in political science and has a background in education; he literally embodies our values of Education & Democracy! Austin grew up in a military family and knows the value of hard work, leadership, and putting passion into action. While we won’t be endorsing any specific candidates until after the 2022 Primaries because we believe in a democratic process, we are so excited to learn more about the fresh perspective Austin will bring to the Cobb schools conversation!
